Baked crispy yogurt chicken

This recipe is very easy and practical for those days when you don't want to worry too much about what you have to cook. These chicken legs can be really tender with the yogurt and lemon marinate.

For this delicious chicken you need:

  • 12 chicken legs
  • 2 cups of plain, unflavored yogurt
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • parsley, to taste
  • juice of one lemon
  • 2 cups of panko (Japanese style) bread crumbs
  • butter (1 tea spoon for each piece of chicken)
  • salt and peper
Let's start!

Pre heat the oven at 175°C.

Mix the yogurt with mashed garlic, chopped parsley and the lemon juice and set aside. Spread salt on the chicken legs, and salt and pepper on the bread crumbs.

We have all the ingredients ready so let's start.

Deep the chicken legs in the mixture and shake a bit to remove the excess of yogurt and after that in the bread crumbs. Place them in a baking tray previously buttered.

Now all chicken legs are marinated. It is better that the chicken legs are not so close to each other. I put them too close but it would have been better to have them more separated so they could have got more crispy and golden.

At this step of the recipe place a piece of butter on top of each chicken leg. I think a bit less of what I put, as you can see in the picture.

Before you put into the oven cover the tray with aluminum foil. Bake it for 1hour and after that, remove the aluminum foil and bake it still for around 15 minutes more. Check when the chicken legs turn a bit golden but take care you don't overcook them as they might get too dry.

This is our Baked Crispy Yogurt Chicken. Feel free to change this recipe because this is a basic chicken. You can add for example cayenne pepper, rosemary, etc. to the marinade or the bread crumbs.

I like to enjoy this chicken with baked potatoes. Please check my recipe for baked potatoes :-)

Thank you and enjoy your food. See you in my next post ;-)
